Journeys with (ART)hur

This is a Waldorf-inspired book club in which students explore the legends of King Arthur through a child-accessible retelling of the Arthurian stories. Students will read assigned sections between meetings and come to class prepared with passages, moments, and characters that stood out to them.

The class centers on four core stories drawn from the Tom Crawford retelling, chosen for their clear expression of courage, honor, nobility, loyalty, and responsibility. These stories serve as the foundation for discussion, reflection, and creative work.

Class time is spent in guided conversation followed by the creation of Main Lesson Book pages. These pages are collaboratively grounded through shared discussion but ultimately filled with each student’s individual interpretations—through writing, illustration, and design. The goal is not to arrive at the “right” meaning, but to develop attention and the ability to draw meaning from story. At the end of the series, students will have a small Main Lesson Book recounting their journeys with Kind Arthur.
