About
I’ve worn many hats in education, from farming to the French Revolution, facilitating the creation of a Montessori nature school and running an education department. I hold a bachelor's degree in Wildlife Sciences from Auburn University and a master's degree in Environmental Education and Communication from Royal Roads University. I’ve created a novel gifted program and curriculum for a mixed-age upper school, and I’ve designed winter camps, summer camps, and many other forms of learning experiences in between.
My latest project is to take my gifts, skills, and experiences on the road to schools that are exploring the boundaries of what education can be. I use unit studies to bring students into immersive experiences so that the human within emerges. Sometimes that means bringing my own unique curricular approach; other times it means bringing an institution’s carefully crafted curriculum to life.
Some of my personal passion projects have included serving on civic and educational committees, facilitating resiliency workshops, and exploring ecological agriculture as an analogy for living in community. All of this ties into what my life’s passion project really is: how do humans live and grow on Earth.
